In England and Wales, you can get divorced online for less than £1,000, without a lawyer if you choose to do it yourself. The key here is being able to communicate with your ex.

If you are able to sit down together and agree to a respectful and amicable resolution of the divorce, then you can iron out the terms of your separation among yourselves. You will of course both need to be willing to make the necessary compromises in order to find arrangements that you can both agree to. The document can then be submitted to the court online for a very small fee. This will allow you to save your money for much more constructive things, such as building your new life.
